RESUMO

A novel multistatic integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system based on macro-micro cooperation for the sixth-generation (6G) mobile network is proposed. Instead of using macrosites at both the transmitter and receiver sides, microsites are considered as receivers in cooperative sensing. This system is important since microsites can be deployed more flexibly to reduce their distances to the sensing objects, providing better coverage for sensing service. In this work, we first analyze the deployment problem of microsites, which can be deployed along the radius and azimuth angle to cover macrosite cells. The coverage area of each microsite is derived in terms of its position in the cell. Then, we describe an efficient estimating approach for obtaining the position and velocity of sensing objects in the macrosite cell. By choosing multiple microsites around the targeted sensing area, joint data processing with an efficient optimization method is also provided. Simulation results show that the multistatic ISAC system employing macro-micro cooperation can improve the position and velocity estimation accuracy of objects compared to systems employing macrosite cooperation alone, demonstrating the effectiveness and potential for implementing the proposed system in the 6G mobile network.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The efficacy and safety of the novel immunotherapy method, intra-cervical lymphatic immunotherapy (ICLIT), need to be investigated. Comparing it with subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT), we clarified the long-term efficacy and safety of intra-cervical lymphatic immunotherapy on allergic rhinitis (AR), and investigated the improvement of clinical efficacy of the booster injection at 1 year after ICLIT treatment. METHODS: Ninety adult patients with dust mite allergy were randomly divided into 3 groups: 30 in the SCIT group, 30 in the ILCLIT group, and 30 in ICLIT booster group. Changes in total symptom score (TSS), nasal symptom score (TNSS), ocular symptom score (TOSS) and total medication score (TMS) were evaluated in the three groups. Adverse reactions were recorded, and serum dust mite specific IgE (sIgE) and specific IgG4 were assessed in the ICLIT group and ICLIT booster group. RESULTS: TSS, TNSS, TOSS, and TMS scores were significantly lower in the three groups at 36 months after treatment (p < 0. 05). And at 36 months the ICLIT-booster group showed results similar to SCIT and superior to ICLIT (p < 0. 05). Serum specific IgE decreased in all three groups at 12 and 36 months after treatment, p < 0.01. The ICLIT group and the ICLIT booster group showed a significant increase in sIgG4, p < 0.01. None of the patients in the three groups had any serious systemic adverse effects during the 3-year follow-up. CONCLUSION: The ICLIT treatment is effective and safe on AR. One booster injection of allergens at 1 year can greatly improve its long-term efficacy. TRIAL REGISTRY: Clinical trial registration number: ChiCTR1800017130.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is one of the leading allergic diseases worldwide. Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) induces persistent specific allergen tolerance to achieve remission of the symptoms in AR patients. We creatively conducted the intra-cervical lymphatic immunotherapy (ICLIT) for AR patients. However, the underlying molecular mechanism of immune cell response of AIT in AR remains elusive. METHOD: To investigate the transcriptome profile in AR patients who underwent ICLIT, we comprehensively investigated the transcriptional changes in B cells from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of AR patient by single-cell RNA sequencing. Immunoglobulins and relative key gene, which influences the B cell differentiation, was demonstrated. The biomarkers' association with different types of tumors was investigated. RESULTS: Naive B cells, germinal center B cells, activated memory B cells, and memory B cells constituted the B cells subsets. The expression of IGHE, IGHGs, IGHA, IGHD, and IGHM from memory B cells was validated. Pseudotime analysis further indicated the dynamic change from the expression of the immunoglobulins in the memory B cells, suggesting that ITGB1 may contribute to the differentiation procedure of memory B cells. The cell-cell communication among these immune cells demonstrated the significantly enhanced CD23, BTLA signaling after ICLIT in AR patient. ITGB1 was upregulated in 13 tumors and downregulated in six others. High ITGB1 expression was linked to poor prognosis in eight types of tumors. ITGB1 expression showed correlations with tumor mutation burden, tissue purity, and microsatellite instability in different types of tumors. DISCUSSION: ITGB1 was demonstrated as a potential biomarker for AR patients after ICLIT and is significant in identifying immune infiltration in tumor tissue and predicting tumor prognosis.

RESUMO

Background: Pediatric allergic rhinoconjunctivitis has become a public concern with an increasing incidence year by year. Conventional subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) has long treatment time, high cost and poor compliance. The novel immunotherapy significantly shortens the course of treatment by directly injecting allergens into cervical lymph nodes, which can perform faster clinical benefits to children. Objective: By comparing with SCIT, this study aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of intra-cervical lymphatic immunotherapy (ICLIT). Methods: This is a prospective randomized controlled study. A total of 50 allergic rhinoconjunctivitis children with dust mite allergy was randomly divided into ICLIT group and SCIT group, receiving three cervical intralymphatic injections of dust mite allergen or three years of subcutaneous injection, separately. Primary outcomes included total nasal symptom scores (TNSS), total ocular symptom scores (TOSS), total symptom scores (TSS), total medication scores (TMS), and total quality of life score. Secondary outcomes included pain perception and adverse reactions during treatment. Other secondary outcome was change in Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Derp) and Dermatophagoides farina (Derf) -specific IgE level. Results: Both groups had significantly decreased TNSS, TOSS, TSS, TMS, and total quality of life score after 36 months of treatment (p<0.0001). Compared with SCIT, ICLIT could rapidly improve allergic symptoms (p<0.0001). The short-term efficacy was consistent between the two groups (p=0.07), while the long-term efficacy was better in SCIT group (p<0.0001). The pain perception in ICLIT group was lower than that in SCIT group (p<0.0001). ICLIT group was safer. Specifically, the children had only 3 mild local adverse reactions without systemic adverse reactions. The SCIT group had 14 systemic adverse reactions. At last, the serum Derp and Derf-specific IgE levels in ICLIT and SCIT groups decreased 3 years later (p<0.0001). Conclusion: ICLIT could ameliorate significantly the allergic symptoms in pediatric patients with an advantage in effectiveness and safety, besides an improved life quality including shortened period of treatment, frequency of drug use and pain perception. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The incidence of cervical airway obstruction after cervical spine surgery (CSS) ranges from 1.2 to 14%, and some require reintubation. If not addressed promptly, the consequences can be fatal. This study investigated delayed extubation's effect on patients' reintubation rate after cervical spine surgery. METHODS: We performed a retrospective case-control analysis of cervical spine surgery from our ICU from January 2021 to October 2022. Demographic and preoperative characteristics, intraoperative data, and postoperative clinical outcomes were collected for all 94 patients. Univariable analysis and multivariable logistic regression were used to analyze postoperative unsuccessful extubation risk factors following cervical spine surgery. RESULTS: The patients in the early extubation (n = 73) and delayed extubation (n = 21) groups had similar demographic characteristics. No significant differences were found in the reintubation rate (0 vs. 6.8%, p = 0.584). However, the delayed extubation group had significantly more patients with 4 and more cervical fusion segments (42.9 vs. 15.1%, p = 0.013),more patients with an operative time greater than 4 h (33.3 vs. 6.8%, p = 0.004)and all patients involved C2-4 (78 vs. 100%, p = 0.019).Also, patients in the delayed extubation group had a longer duration of ICU stay (152.9 ± 197.1 h vs. 27.2 ± 45.4 h, p < 0.001) and longer duration of hospital stay (15.2 ± 6.9 days vs. 11.6 ± 4.1 days, p = 0.003). Univariate and multivariate analysis identified the presences of cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) (OR 0.02, 95% CI 0-0.39, p = 0.009) and respiratory diseases (OR: 23.2, 95% CI 2.35-229.51, p = 0.007) as unfavorable prognostic factor for reintubation. CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis of patients with cervical spondylosis who received CSS indicated that delayed extubation was associated with the presence of respiratory diseases and CSM, longer operative time, more cervical fusion segments, and longer duration of ICU and hospital stays.

RESUMO

Gate tunable two-dimensional (2D) superconductors offer significant advantages in studying superconducting phase transitions. Here, we address superconductivity in exfoliated 1T'-MoTe2 monolayers with an intrinsic band gap of ∼7.3 meV using field effect doping. Despite large differences in the dispersion of the conduction and valence bands, superconductivity can be achieved easily for both electrons and holes. The onset of superconductivity occurs near 7-8 K for both charge carrier types. This temperature is much higher than that in bulk samples. Also the in-plane upper critical field is strongly enhanced and exceeds the BCS Pauli limit in both cases. Gap information is extracted using point-contact spectroscopy. The gap ratio exceeds multiple times the value expected for BCS weak-coupling. All of these observations suggest a strong enhancement of the pairing interaction.

RESUMO

Background: Early diagnosis of septic cardiomyopathy is essential to reduce the mortality rate of sepsis. Previous studies indicated that iron metabolism plays a vital role in sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy. Here, we aimed to identify shared iron metabolism-related genes (IMRGs) in the myocardium and blood monocytes of patients with sepsis and to determine their prognostic signature. Methods: First, an applied bioinformatics-based analysis was conducted to identify shared IMRGs differentially expressed in the myocardium and peripheral blood monocytes of patients with sepsis. Second, Cytoscape was used to construct a protein-protein interaction network, and immune infiltration of the septic myocardium was assessed using single-sample gene set enrichment analysis. In addition, a prognostic prediction model for IMRGs was established by Cox regression analysis. Finally, the expression of key mRNAs in the myocardium of mice with sepsis was verified using quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis. Results: We screened common differentially expressed genes in septic myocardium and blood monocytes and identified 14 that were related to iron metabolism. We found that HBB, SLC25A37, SLC11A1, and HMOX1 strongly correlated with monocytes and neutrophils, whereas HMOX1 and SLC11A1 strongly correlated with macrophages. We then established a prognostic model (HIF1A and SLC25A37) using the common differentially expressed IMRGs. The prognostic model we established was expected to better aid in diagnosing septic cardiomyopathy. Moreover, we verified these genes using datasets and experiments and found a significant difference between the sepsis and control groups. Conclusion: Common differential expression of IMRGs was identified in blood monocytes and myocardium between sepsis and control groups, among which HIF1A and SLC25A37 might predict prognosis in septic cardiomyopathy. The study may help us deeply understand the molecular mechanisms of iron metabolism and aid in the diagnosis and treatment of septic cardiomyopathy.

RESUMO

With the growing development of the Internet of things, wearable electronic devices have been extensively applied in civilian and military fields. As an essential component of data transmission in wearable electronics, a flexible antenna is one of the key aspects of research. Conventional metal antennas suffer from a large skin depth, and cannot satisfy the requirements of wearable electronics such as light weight, flexibility, and thinness. Recently, a group of two-dimensional metallic metal carbides (named MXenes) have been explored as building blocks for high-performance flexible antennas with excellent flexibility and superior mechanical strength. The appearance of hydrophilic functional groups at the surface of a MXene allows simple, scalable, and environmentally friendly manufacturing of MXene-based antennas. In this minireview, some pioneering works of MXene-based flexible radio frequency components are summarized, and the existing bottlenecks and the future trends of this promising field are discussed.

RESUMO

Background: Acute type A aortic dissection (AADA) is a life-threatening cardiovascular disease, and improving perioperative mortality remains a significant challenge. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of preemptive intubation under adequate sedation and analgesia on the prognosis of AADA patients under the high rupture risk. Methods: The medical records of patients diagnosed with AADA and admitted to Changhai Hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received preoperative preemptive intubation in the cardiac intensive care unit (ICU) before surgery. We used propensity score matching (PSM) analysis to conduct statistical analyses on the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative clinical data of the two groups. Results: A total of 134 patients were eventually included in the study. One patient (3.8%) in the pre-intubation group and 15 (13.9%) in the control group died of dissection rupture before surgery. After excluding patients with dissection rupture, there were 25 patients in the pre-intubation group and 93 patients in the non-intubation group. After PSM, there were 17 patients in the pre-intubation group and 68 patients in the non-intubation group. Baseline data analysis showed that the pre-intubation group had a higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (10.2±3.9 vs. 8.0±4.7, P=0.036) and a higher proportion of patients with coronary artery disease (16.0% vs. 1.1%, P=0.007). The rate of massive pericardial effusion was also higher in the intubation group (28.0% vs. 10.8%, P=0.049), and preoperative oxygenation index was lower (273.2±97.3 vs. 322.1±100.9, P=0.032) compared to the control group. The results showed no significant differences in intraoperative and postoperative data for the two groups. Kaplan-Meier survival curves indicated a trend towards a more favorable prognosis for patients in the preemptive intubation group, but this difference was not significant either before or after PSM. Conclusions: Preemptive pre-intubation may benefit high-risk patients with factors such as hypoxia, massive pericardial effusion, and agitation, improving the more critically AADA patients' perioperative outcomes.

RESUMO

Complex asymmetric synthesis can be realized by the chiral induction of amino acids in nature. It is of great significance to design a new biomimetic catalytic system for asymmetric synthesis. In this context, we report the preparation and characterization of the composite of polyacrylonitrile fiber (PANF) and metal-organic framework to catalyze the chiral synthesis of propargylamines. A confined microenvironment is established with N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) silver complex-supported PANF and D-proline-encapsulated MIL-101(Cr). This novel supported catalyst demonstrated high activity in addition to excellent stereoselectivity in the three-component reaction between alkynes, aldehydes, and amines (A3). The regeneration can be realized by adsorption of D-proline again when the stereoselectivity decreases after recycle uses. By regulating the confined microenvironment on the composite, the activity and selectivity of the catalytic system are improved with turnover numbers of up to 2800 and 98% ee. The biomimetic catalytic system to A3 coupling reaction is systematically studied, and the synergistic catalytic mechanism between NHC-Ag and D-proline in the confined microenvironment is revealed.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a major cause of respiratory failure in critically ill patients that results in significant morbidity and mortality. Recent studies indicate that cell-based therapies may be beneficial in the treatment of ALI. We recently demonstrated that Nrf2-overexpressing human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs) reduce lung injury, fibrosis and inflammation in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-challenged mice. Here we tested whether small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from Nrf2-overexpressing hAMSCs (Nrf2-sEVs) could protect against ALI. sEVs were isolated from hAMSCs that overexpressed (Nrf2-sEVs) or silenced (siNrf2-sEVs) Nrf2. We examined the effects of sEVs treatment on lung inflammation in a mouse model of ALI, where LPS was administered intratracheally to mice, and lung tissues and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were analyzed 24 h later. METHODS: Histological analysis, immunofluorescence microscopy, western blotting, RT-PCR and ELISA were used to measure the inflammatory response in the lungs and BALF. RESULTS: We found that sEVs from hAMSCs are protective in ALI and that Nrf2 overexpression promotes protection against lung disease. Nrf2-sEVs significantly reduced lung injury in LPS-challenged mice, which was associated with decreased apoptosis, reduced infiltration of neutrophils and macrophages, and inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. We further show that Nrf2-sEVs act by inhibiting the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and promoting the polarization of M2 macrophages. CONCLUSION: Our data show that overexpression of Nrf2 protects against LPS-induced lung injury, and indicate that a novel therapeutic strategy using Nrf2-sEVs may be beneficial against ALI.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This national study aimed to investigate the lung ultrasound (LUS) training and practice of respiratory therapists (RTs) in mainland China. METHODS: A cross-sectional multicenter survey was conducted from May 22, 2021 to August 12, 2021, through online platforms. This survey included RTs in mainland China. The survey was divided into four sections: (1) demographic characteristics and basic information; (2) basic information about LUS training and practice; (3) LUS practice details; and (4) Other ultrasound training and practice. RESULTS: A total of 514 responses were received, and 494 valid responses were included in the analysis. 81.2% (401/494) participants' highest degree of education was a bachelor's degree, and 43.1% (213/494) participants were at level II in terms of job ranking. 99.2%(490/494) participants agreed that the RTs needed to learn lung ultrasound, but only 12.3% (61/494) participants had received a LUS training course. Further, 66.2% (327/494) experienced participants responded to Sect. 3. Most of RTs used LUS when the patient had hypoxia (265/327, 81%) or dyspnea (260/317, 79.5%); they also used it during spontaneous breathing trial(SBT) (191/327, 58.4%) or in prone position (177/327, 54.1%). The A-line (302/327, 92.4%), B-line (299/327, 91.4%), lung slide (263/327, 80.4%), and bat sign (259/327, 79.2%) were well known as LUS signs. Also, 30.6% (100/327) participants did not use the LUS protocol in their clinical practice, and only 25.4%(83/327) participants said they had used LUS scores. Moreover, 55.7% (182/327) participants frequently changed the respiratory therapy strategy according to LUS results. CONCLUSIONS: We should improve the number and workplace of RTs in mainland China in the future. We should also standardize the application of LUS practice and training for RTs in mainland China and establish corresponding certification pathways.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study retrospectively analyzed the genome characteristics of blaKPC-2 in multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae collected from the ICU of a teaching hospital in Shanghai, China. METHODS: From February 2018 to December 2019, 36 strains of multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae were collected from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of critically ill patients. The genome of all isolates was obtained through the Illumina sequence, and single nucleotide polymorphisms of the blaKPC-2 gene were analyzed to explore blaKPC-2's evolutionary characteristics. Different strains' genetic relationships and homology were studied by constructing an evolutionary tree on a single copy orthologue. Pacbio combined Illumina sequence was conducted to evaluate the structure and potential mobility of drug-resistant plasmids of the strain KP-s26. RESULTS: The distribution of resistance and virulence genes had little difference, but most strains had significant differences in the plasmid-encoded region. Most strains (31/36) carried the carbapenemase gene blaKPC-2, with no single nucleotide polymorphism in different strains. Extended-spectrum ß-lactamase resistance genes, such as blaCTX-M and blaSHV, were found in the isolates, but no metallo-ß-lactamases were detected. All strains with blaKPC-2 coexisted with chromosomal-associated fosfomycin resistance genes fosA6, and the coexistence of blaKPC-2 and blaCTX variants (blaCTX-M-15, blaCTX-M-65, and blaCTX-M-27) was also detected in 29/31 strains. The isolate KP-s26 carried five circular plasmids. pA and pB were conjugate plasmids, as they carried drug resistance genes and contained a complete IV secretion system. CONCLUSION: The blaKPC-2 carbapenemase gene is relatively conservative in the process of evolution; drug-resistant plasmids containing conjugated transfer elements contribute to the spreading of drug resistance. The coexistence of blaKPC-2 with fosA6 or blaCTX-M variants was associated with increased fosfomycin resistance and broad-spectrum ß-lactam resistance, respectively. RESUMO

Single photon emission from localized excitons in two-dimensional (2D) materials has been extensively investigated because of its relevance for quantum information applications. Prerequisites are the availability of photons with high purity polarization and controllable polarization orientation that can be integrated with optical cavities. Here, deformation strain along edges of prepatterned square-shaped substrate protrusions is exploited to induce quasi-one-dimensional (1D) localized excitons in WSe2 monolayers as an elegant way to get photons that fulfill these requirements. At zero magnetic field, the emission is linearly polarized with 95% purity because exciton states are valley hybridized with equal shares of both valleys and predominant emission from excitons with a dipole moment along the elongated direction. In a strong field, one valley is favored and the linear polarization is converted to high-purity circular polarization. This deterministic control over polarization purity and orientation is a valuable asset in the context of integrated quantum photonics.

RESUMO

Photovoltaic devices work by converting sunlight energy into electric energy. The efficiency of current photovoltaic devices, however, is significantly limited by the transmission loss of photons with energies below the bandgap of channel semiconductors, which can be circumvented by photon energy upconversion. Energy upconversion has been widely employed to improve the efficiency of traditional solar cells. However, the employment of energy upconversion in two-dimensional (2D) heterostructure photovoltaic devices has not been investigated yet. Here, we report the upconversion photovoltaic effect of WS2 monolayer/(C6H5C2H4NH3)2PbI4 (PEPI) 2D perovskite heterostructures by below-bandgap two-photon absorption via a virtual intermediate state. An open circuit voltage of 0.37 V and short circuit current of 7.4 pA are obtained with a photoresponsivity of 771 pA/W and current on/off ratio of 130:1. This work demonstrates that upconversion by two-photon absorption may potentially be a strategy for boosting the efficiency of 2D material-based photovoltaic devices by virtue of the absorption of photons below the bandgap energy of channel semiconductors.

RESUMO

Photoluminescence (PL) upconversion is a phenomenon involving light-matter interactions, where the energy of emitted photons is higher than that of the incident photons. PL upconversion is an intriguing process in two-dimensional materials and specifically designed 2D heterostructures, which have potential upconversion applications in optoelectronic devices, bioimaging, and semiconductor cooling. In this review, we focus on the recent advances in photoluminescence upconversion in two-dimensional materials and their heterostructures. We discuss the upconversion mechanisms, applications, and future outlook of upconversion in two-dimensional materials.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Radionuclide imaging is the primary method of visually evaluating drug deposition in the lungs. Here, we used a new imaging technique, dual-source dual-energy computed tomography (DSDECT), to compare the ability of two nebulizers commonly used in clinical practice to deposit drugs in the lungs. METHODS: Male New Zealand White rabbits were randomly divided into a vibrating mesh nebulizer group and a small volume jet nebulizer group. First, two rabbits received methylene blue-iohexol-normal saline by inhalation to confirm that DSDECT was a feasible method of assessing aerosol inhalation. Then, 10 rabbits were subjected to DSDECT scan before and after receiving a iohexol-normal saline mixture by inhalation. All images were transferred and reconstructed on a workstation computer equipped with dedicated software. RESULTS: DSDECT revealed the same iodine distribution as tracheobronchial methylene blue staining on dissection. Significant differences between the groups in average CT value and iodine concentration were noted in the right upper lobe (P<0.05), but no other lobes showed statistically significant differences. The regional distribution of drugs in different lobes of the lung varied by nebulizer. CONCLUSIONS: DSDECT is a useful method of evaluating drug deposition in the lungs, and vibrating mesh nebulizers deposit more drugs than small volume jet nebulizers.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of external diaphragmatic pacing (EDP) on patients with chronic cor pulmonale (CCP). METHODS: Fifty patients with CCP were enrolled in Kashgar Prefecture Second People's Hospital in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China from 2016 to 2017. The patients were randomized into a group that received anti-CCP therapy (negative control group) or a group that received additional EDP treatment (EDP group). We recorded and compared maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP), maximal expiratory pressure (MEP), forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV1/FVC, and the 6-minute walking test between the two groups on the first and tenth days of treatment. RESULTS: Ten days after treatment began, MIP, FVC, and the 6-minute walking test were significantly improved in both groups. Importantly, MIP and FVC were significantly higher in the EDP group compared with the control group on the tenth day. CONCLUSION: In addition to treatment for CCP, these patients can obtain extra benefit by using EDP treatment.

RESUMO

Two-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites have been demonstrated to possess great potential for optical and optoelectronic devices. Because they exhibit better ambient stability than three-dimensional (3D) perovskites, they have been considered as potential substitutes for 3D perovskites as light absorbing layers to improve the photoresponsivity of monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC)-based photodetectors. Investigation of the optoelectronic properties of TMDC monolayer/2D perovskite vertical heterostructures is however at an early stage. Here, we address the photovoltaic effect and the photodetection performance in tungsten disulfide (WS2) monolayer/2D perovskite (C6H5C2H4NH3)2PbI4 (PEPI) vertical heterostructures. A vertical device geometry with separate graphene contacts to both heterointerface constituents acted as a photovoltaic device and self-driven photodetector. The photovoltaic device exhibited an open circuit voltage of -0.57 V and a short circuit current of 41.6 nA. A photoresponsivity of 0.13 mA/W at the WS2/PEPI heterointerface was achieved, which was signified by a factor of 5 compared to that from the individual WS2 region. The current on/off ratio of the self-driven photodetector was approximately 1500. The photoresponsivity and external quantum efficiency of the self-driven photodetector were estimated to be 24.2 µA/W and 5.7 × 10-5, respectively. This work corroborates that 2D perovskites are promising light absorbing layers in optoelectronic devices with a TMDC-based heterointerface.

RESUMO

Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine upregulated in many inflammatory diseases, and a potent inducer of endothelial cell-derived microparticle (EMP) formation. In this study, we identified the protein kinase PAK4 as a key regulator of the TNF-induced EMP release from human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). TNF induces dose- and time-dependent EMP release and downregulation of PAK4 and upstream cdc42 in HUVECs. PAK4 suppression or inhibition of its kinase activity increases TNF-induced EMP release and apoptosis in HUVECs, while PAK4 overexpression reduces EMP release and apoptosis in TNF-stimulated cells. Collectively, these data indicate that PAK4 suppresses TNF-induced EMP generation occurring during apoptosis, and suggest that modulation of PAK4 activity may represent a novel approach to suppress the TNF-induced EMP levels in pro-inflammatory disorders and other pathological conditions.
